Basic Life Support and Heartsaver CPR Instructor course
Objective: The instructor candidates will be able to teach a BLS or Heartsaver course using the video
and lesson maps that are part of the appropriate BLS & HS course materials. Instructor candidates will also be able
to use the new testing materials to conduct skills testing.
Who can
take the course: Anyone who wants to become an AHA ECC BLS instructor can take this course The ideal candidate will
be motivated to
- Teach
- Facilitate learning
- Ensure that providers acquire the skills necessary for
successful course completion.
- View provider assessment as a way to improve individual
knowledge and skills.
Course Prerequisites: Prospective
instructors must
- Current AHA Healthcare
Provider CPR card.
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR card and have a valid
health professional license (RN, PA, DMD etc.) or a current AHA Heartsaver First Aid card.
- Have completed the AHA Core Instructor Course
- Be aligned with an AHA Training
Center
Length of course:
- AHA Core Instructor
Course can be completed online or with DVD provided with the textbook. The core instructor course should take less than
8 hours. The online version does not need to be completed in one sitting.
- A
classroom section will be conducted at CPST for 6 hours.
How to register:
- Complete the attached form and return to the AHA Training
Center that you would like to affiliate with as an instructor, along with your payment, copy of your current CPR card and
copy of First Aid Card or current license. You must be accepted by this training center before completing any of the
requisites. The coordinator will send you material you will need to complete the Core Instructor Course. You will be
registered for the classroom portion of the training after completing the Core Instructor Course and completion of CPST’s
CPR and/or first aid course.
Cost: $300.00 which includes:
- All instructor materials and required prerequisites courses.
Courses Offered April and September
each year. The next instructor course will be offered April 14, 2012. Registration deadline is March 16, 2012.

Heartsaver CPR & AED
Instructor Course

to teach a Heartsaver CPR course using the video and lesson maps that are part of the appropriate HS course materials. Instructor
candidates will also be able to use the new skills materials.

the course: Anyone who wants to become an AHA ECC Heartsaver Instructor can take this course. The ideal candidate

course completion.
- View provider assessment as a way to improve individual knowledge
and skills.
Course Prerequisites: Prospective instructors must
- Have completed the AHA Core Instructor Course
- Be aligned with an AHA Training Center
- Current Heartsaver Adult/Child/Infant
& AED CPR card and a valid Healthcare license or Heartsaver First Aid card.
Length of Course:
- AHA Core Instructor
